Total war: Age of Sigmar, will most likely become a thing at some point, but not for this series as this series is based on Warhammer Fantasy battles.

Age of Sigmar still needs a good number of years to get the place Warhammer Fantasy had in terms of just army roster variety for each faction It's not even an issue with the setting itself like some people suggest, but the army rosters just aren't up to the standard yet.

I absolutely adore Age of Sigmar, but it is way too early to make any sort of Total War: Age of Sigmar.

Unlike 40k with which it shares skirmish-based gameplay, Age of Sigmar fluff has no problem with formations because automatic weapons like machine guns as a non-issue (ratling gun is the only example I can think of and it was around back in the world that was), artillery is even rarer.

It's purely a gamedesign decision unlike 40k - most of Age of Sigmar units are taken from fantasy and those that are not still make sense within the concept of Total War-style blocks of infantry.
